Who we are

Clouds of Care is a dynamic and innovative ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 27001:2022 certified MedTech company to support clinical care and clinical trial success. Via our CNS platform, we drive multimodal insights to enable better CNS care, starting from electrophysiology.

What the job entails

Are you a communicative, team-oriented individual with a background in biomedical sciences and a passion for technology, clinical development, and nerdy biomarker research? Then this role might be for you!
The Clinical Scientist will be the medical and scientific link between our customers (biotech and pharma companies), our research collaborators, external scientists, key opinion leaders, and our internal product development and business development teams.  Your success will heavily depend on your academic versatility, your communication skills, and your hands-on mentality in acquiring skills and knowledge quickly. As Clouds of Care is a fast-growing scale-up company, you will have ample opportunities to grow within the team and make your mark!

Responsibilities

Be the link between clinical development, technology solutions, and clinicians/caregivers by providing clinical and scientific guidance:

  • Identify exciting new opportunities for the application of software and digital health technology within the space of CNS clinical trials (e.g. use of EEG endpoints to monitor treatment efficacy in gene therapy in epilepsy patients).
  • Support the application of our service within CNS clinical trials by advising on protocol development to align technical feasibility with regulatory standards and clinical objectives. Consulting ranges from assessing the clinical feasibility (e.g. how to conduct an EEG on a 2- year-old child) to providing scientific rationale for endpoints (e.g. analyzing spike-wave index during sleep to assess treatment efficacy).
  • Support our Business Development Team with clinical advice throughout the sales cycle of new projects.
  • Clinical trial monitoring: support our Project Management Office with clinical advice throughout the conduct of research and clinical trial projects (e.g. develop data acquisition requirements, provide input on SOPs, ad-hoc support of sponsors, CROs, and trial sites for any clinical queries).

Bring clinical passion into data analytics:

  • Review and interpret intermediate and final results of projects by collaborating with our data scientists on the analysis and interpretation of clinical trial data, and comprehensively translating findings towards Biotech and Pharma partners.
  • Contribute to the scientific dissemination of project results to stakeholders.

Contribute to product development:

  • Act as a clinical scientist within the company, providing clinical insights into CNS diseases to support product development decisions.
  • Support our internal biomarker discovery and validation from a scientific and academic point of view by staying up to date on relevant publications, scouting for new academic solutions at conferences, etc.

Meet and engage with Key Opinion Leaders and other stakeholders in the field of CNS diseases:

  • Engage with KOLs and other external experts to gain insights and ensure alignment with the latest scientific and medical standards.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to ensure a clear understanding and alignment on clinical trial objectives.
  • Scout for physicians, electrophysiologists, data scientists, etc who are excited about technology and the development of biomarkers to grow our network of like-minded scientists!

Required competencies

  • Research-minded: PhD (life sciences, pharmacy, bioengineering, ...) or MD, or equivalent expertise gained through experience in clinical development, translational research, or biomarker-focused roles in pharma, biotech, MedTech, or digital health is required.
  • Clinical/Scientific Experience: Experience in Neurology and/or Psychiatry is highly valued. A background in clinical practice or hands-on experience with neurophysiology techniques (EEG, PSG, MEG) or CNS biomarker research is preferred.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing clinical data and making informed decisions based on the results. Preferably with training or experience in biostatistics, including proficiency in statistical theory, methods, and analysis of biological data.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for preparing reports and engaging with various stakeholders.
